Container berths are increasing year by year
Container wharves are places with clear boundaries that can accommodate complete container loading and unloading operations, including water areas such as harbor basins, anchorage, entry channels, berths, and other land areas such as cargo terminal, storage yard, wharf, front office, and living areas. A container terminal is the hub station of land and water intermodal transport, is the buffer ground of container goods in the transformation of transport mode, and is also the junction point of goods. Therefore, the container terminal plays an important role in the whole process of container transport.
From the perspective of container berths construction, from 2010 to 2019, the overall number of container berths in China’s ports showed an increasing trend. By the end of 2019, the number of domestic container berths reached 352, with a year-on-year growth of 4.1%.
